ABOUT NADINE WOOD

I am an artist that often uses the medium of photography to explore the human pysche. I myself had coulrophobia (fear of clowns) from a young age. Yet I feel strangley drawn to work with the clown and masks in my own practice.

I see the clown as a teller of truths, a translator of scenarios, a wise person and an actor. Yet the clowns exterior is there to fool and to distract the mind from what is being told. All the while the clown is aloof, and what lies within its own pysche is hidden.

Bruce Naumans - Tortured Clown is a body of work that I find fascinating.

I often can be seen making intricate wigs and creating scenarios for the clown. Often I use the clown as an allegory for parts of my own life and that of others.
